Six months after it was announced,
Canada's free-trade agreement with
European Union still has a long way
to go. Industry sources now suggest
implementation is possibly as much as
two years away.
It is understood that while Canada and
the EU have reached an agreement on all
key issues, there is remaining technical
work needed to finalise the text of the
CANADA-EU
trade agreement
Deal agreed but final wording still to be decided
agreement. The delay is raising concerns
that the pact will run into difficulties as
time goes on.
The deal, when it is finally agreed, is
expected to benefit the UK economy
and businesses by over £1.3 billion a
year. Businesses in the UK stand to
benefit significantly from this as the UK is
Canada's second biggest trading partner
in the world, behind the USA. Estimates
